Barcode Scanners
An Overview
Features Summary
Adding a bar code scanner to each Parts computer will allow you to make use of the existing bar codes which may be printed on your parts stock lines, or to add your own bar codes
Choice of scanners
Dragon2000 can provide Bar Code scanners to speed up the entry of part lines onto Invoices, Orders and service issues, and also to retrieve part records for stock checks and management stock adjustments.
All of the bar code scanners offered here are `laser scanners`. This means that when the scanner is in use, a visible red line is projected onto the surface of the item, allowing you to line the reader up with the code you are scanning. Laser Scanners
In addition, all scanners are provided with a trigger to scan only when you press the trigger in. Many of these scanners allow this option to be overridden, and scan when the item is simply placed under the reader.
All scanners are also available in either Black or Grey apart from the Pulsar.
We also offer a range of bar code scanners, to suit the budget and application requirements.
Connection to your computer
Each of the scanners offered here are available with either `keyboard wedge` or `USB` connections, with the exception of the Pulsar. Keyboard wedge means the scanner plugs in with your keyboard. USB plugs into your USB socket.
The scanners will not need any software in order to read bar codes.
'Pulsar' Scanner
Our entry level laser scanner, available with Keyboard Wedge only, and available only in grey.
Keyboard Wedge `Pulsar` £125 + VAT
'Voyager' Scanner
This professional scanner is also available with a stand, allowing you to simply wave the item under the scanner in order to read the bar code.

'Voyager' Bluetooth Scanner
Also available in either Black or Grey, the Voyager Bluetooth is a wireless scanner, freeing you from your desk or parts counter.
The device can transmit the bar code data from up to 20 metres. In addition, if you use the scanner from a further distance than this, bar codes are stored in the unit and transmitted only when the base comes back into range.
The base unit is also a charger, and can be mounted vertically or laid flat.

Bar codes within Dragon2000
Every part line allows you to record a bar code, which may simply be an alternative part number, or any piece of text you wish. You can print a label of the bar code (or part number if no code is specified) directly from the part record.
Any input screen which requires a part number to be entered will accept bar codes or part numbers. This includes:
Orders · Invoices · Workshop Issues · Parts Manager · QuickFinder
Barcodes are also printed on reports such as the re-order report and parts stock check, to allow these tasks to be carried out in the most efficient way possible.
